I’ll admit that I’m not always excited about taking photos on a red carpet, but when I have the proper tools for the event, it helps tremendously!
You might not find yourself walking red carpets on the regular, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look Red-Carpet ready at your next big event.
From weddings to parties, here are my top 6 beauty essentials that will get you the red-carpet look in no time!
BRONZING BODY LOTION: A sunkissed glow is everyone’s best friend! With the right body bronzing lotion your skin will transform into a perfect velvety canvas that’s glistening and looks great on camera! Some of my favorites include Scott Barnes Body Bling, Gleam Body Radiance by Mellanie Mills, and Lorac Tantalizer
HAIRSPRAY: L’Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Extra Strong Hold is an industry standard, commonly used backstage at runway shows, photo shoots, and fancy red carpet events. Along with providing a strong hold, it will also add shine to your hair without weighing it down. You can spray as much or as often as you’d like and still be able to run your hands through your hair after.
LIPGLOSS: I can barely leave the house without it, let alone get on a red carpet without it! I like Nars liploss a lot because it comes in several different shades , isn’t sticky, and tends to last a pretty long time.
I also like LipFusion’s InFATuation plumping lip gloss because it gives you a shiny and pouty look without that tingly or irritating feeling you get with other plumping glosses.
BLOTTING PAPERS: If you find yourself with no powder and no fancy blotting papers left in your handbag, you can always go into the public bathroom and use a toilet seat cover as a quick and cost effective fix to blot down any excess oil on your face.
If you have time to stop at the beauty store, there are some great options that fit perfectly into your little clutch bag. Get yourself some Boscia Green Tea Blotting Papers or Jane Irdale Facial Blotting Papers. These all-natural papers, made from organic flax seed, offer a soft finish that absorbs oil.
NO SMUDGE EYELINER : Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide On Eyeliner in Black is hands down the best eyeliner. It stay put whether you’re crying, sweating, working out, jumping in a pool, or looking fierce on a red-carpet!
UNDERGARMENTS: A lot of times when you’re wearing a fitted cocktail dress over your normal underwear, you end up not liking the look of it digging into your sides. If you take off your underwear, it might feel nice and airy, but the reality is that the material you’re wearing might be more see-through than you think.
If you find yourself on a red carpet or anywhere that a camera might be nearby, that flash will pick up everything and you will not be able to hide from it! This is why I recommend proper undergarments. Whether it’s control-top spanx or miraclesuit shapewear, either one can end up smoothing out and bumps or lumps that are showing through the fabric.
Another great undergarment to consider is elastic free and invisible underwear called Commando or Shibue, the revolutionary No-Line Strapless Panty that’s held in place by washable and reusable silicone gel-adhesive across the top front and top back of the panty.
Did I miss anything? What else is important to you when getting ready for an event?
